  • How often can I receive a food box?
    One food box per related household member is delivered per month. If there is a need for more, please contact the Operation Commissary Team at food@osdtn.org or (615) 248-1981 ext. 117.
  • Why do you need to ask some of the questions on the sign-up form?
    OSDTN must verify Veteran status to ensure we are meeting donor intentions.
  • Why do I have to sign an agreement?
    The OSDTN agreement is designed to ensure Veterans understand their rights as an OSDTN client as well as ensure all parties are protected.
  • Can I donate food to Operation Commissary?
    We only accept specific items for Operation Commissary. We are currently in need of: Peanut Butter Crackers Single Serving Slim Jims & Beef Jerky Single Serving Nuts Single Serving Chips Individually Wrapped Snack & Breakfast Bars Tuna & Chicken On-the-Go Packs Chef Boyardee Pop-Tops Single Serve Mac & Cheese Ramen Noodles/Cup O Soup Fruit Snacks
  • How can I donate funds to support Operation Commissary?
    To make monetary donations to Operation Commissary please contact the Chief Development Officer at (615) 248-1981 or development@osdtn.org
  • Can I pick up food bags somewhere?
    If you are not yet enrolled, please visit one of our Veteran Service Centers in Nashville, Clarksville, or Columbia. Limited food may be available at your local VFW or VSO office.
  • Who is eligible to sign up for Operation Commissary?
    Veterans and surviving spouses experiencing food insecurity may sign up for Operation Commissary. Limited capacity may be available for guard, reserve, and active duty.
  • What is the delivery area?
    Operation Commissary serves the 20-county area outlined in the map below.
  • How much food will I receive?
    Each food box or bag contains approximately enough nonperishable food for 3-4 days worth of meals for an average adult. One box or bag will be delivered for each related household member. Recipe ideas included upon request.
  • What if I have dietary restrictions or food allergies?
    Please contact the Operation Commissary Team at food@osdtn.org or (615) 248-1981 ext. 163 to discuss any dietary restrictions or allergies and we will strive to meet your needs.
  • Can my Veteran Serving Organization receive food bags or boxes through Operation Commissary to distribute to the Veterans we serve?
    Please contact the Operation Commissary Program Manager to discuss. 615-248-1981 ext. 157 or email food@osdtn.org.
  • Can I volunteer to help?
    Bags are packed on Fridays and the schedule fills up quickly. Please contact the OSDTN Volunteer Manager at (615) 248-1981 ext. 107 or volunteer@osdtn.org.
