Greetings from the Chaplain’s Corner at OSDN! It has been such a pleasure to work with the Veterans at OSDN this last year in conjunction with Vanderbilt Divinity School & the Chaplain’s Office at the VA. We are finishing this cycle of classes focused on dealing with grief and accessing the spiritual needs of the Veterans and the staff. God has blessed us this year with insights, growth, and abundance. We are working on our ministry program for next year including monthly communion services with special guest preachers and musicians. We are also working on forming a ministry team that includes veterans in the OSDN THP program.
One of my favorite parts of the work OSDN does is the “veterans helping veterans” focus. It was beautiful to see God working through our employee Bruce today as he taught a class to other veterans regarding coping skills. He shared his personal narrative with them about his background and areas he needed growth. He had a three prong plan he shared for them to address their physical, mental and spiritual needs. His advice was pertinent and practical. As a veteran of the Iraq War, the other veterans can relate to his background. Excellent Job Bruce! We are able to recognize the importance of our veteran family and let God work through us to heal our brothers and sisters. I am proud to be working with such a great team who want to care for veterans and build each other up!!
Love and Blessings,
CH Jennifer Lane
